Phenolic adhesives are adhesive that created from phenol substance. Adhesive that include in this group, phenol adhesive like; phenol formaldehyde adhesive. This adhesive is created from mixture of phenol and formalin. After cooking with controlled condition like temperature, pH, time and off course the composition, the end product of the reaction will result a phenol formaldehyde adhesive. Phenol formaldehyde include of thermosetting adhesive, its mean that this adhesive will change because of temperature and can't change back to their original properties.
The other kind of phenolic adhesive is phenolic epoxy adhesive. Phenolic epoxy adhesive can produce from vegetable tanin and also can produce from chemicals mix of phenol and epoxy. This vegetable should be extracted first to get tanin extract that contain of highly reactive phenol. This tannin can found from many trees, especially from bark and wood.
